Every spring Sunbury’s Revitalization, Inc., with the cooperation and assistance of the City of Sunbury, beautifies downtown Sunbury with hanging flower baskets along Market Street. These beautiful flower baskets adorn intersections along Market Street and welcome visitors and residents alike to Sunbury.
The purchase of these flower baskets is funded entirely through donations from individuals and businesses in the community. A local greenhouse prepares the baskets so they are ready to go up in May.
If you enjoy the beauty of the baskets, please consider donating to help fund this Downtown Sunbury beautification program.

Market Street | Sunbury, PA
The Hometown Hero Banner Program is a tribute to military service members (veteran, active, reserve, and guard) and first responders (past and present) with connections to Northumberland County. Banners are displayed on streetlights in downtown Sunbury from Memorial Day to Veterans Day to recognize the men and women who serve or have served our country and community.
A sponsor (usually family of the hometown hero) purchases the banner and provides the photo and service details. The purchase price covers the making of the banner and hanging the banner for the first year. There is a fee for rehanging the banner each following year.
Paperwork for ordering and rehanging banners will be available every year starting in February. For more information on how to honor a hometown hero with a banner, please contact us.

Susquehanna River and Tributaries near Sunbury
For more than decade, hundreds of volunteers have collected tens of thousands of pounds of garbage along the banks of the Susquehanna River and Lake Augusta.
The waterways are some of Pennsylvania’s greatest assets – vital to our sense of community and our economy. From Shamokin Creek to Lake Augusta, and the West and North Branches of the Susquehanna, we are proud to take part in caring for our natural resources!
Join us in cleaning up the river and help make a big impact in protecting and preserving our environment.
Volunteer signup starts in March and October.
This event features some of Sunbury’s best! CY Smoked brings the beef, Eclipse Craft Brewing Co brings the brews!
Enjoy live music from the Cameron Park Gazebo stage. Enter the cornhole tournament. Win a 1/4 steer meat package raffle. Kids’ activities and yard games. Bring your lawn chairs and hang out with us!

Merle Phillips Riverfront Park & Downtown Sunbury
An annual celebration the third weekend of August. Celebrate Sunbury’s awesome location at the joining of the West and North Branches of the Susquehanna River. Music, vendors, food, and art!

Downtown Sunbury
Get ready for an evening of fall fun, local history, and a few spooky surprises at Downtown Sunbury’s first Screams & Scenes, happening Saturday, October 10 from 4–8 PM! Cameron Park will transform into a fall festival filled with local vendors, food trucks, Halloween-themed treats, seasonal activities, and live entertainment in the gazebo throughout the evening.
Explore Market Street on our family-friendly walking ghost tour, where actors stationed outside historic downtown buildings will bring Sunbury’s past to life through spooky stories, local legends, and tales inspired by the people and places that have shaped our community. Grab a Screams & Scenes Passport before you begin and collect a stamp from each ghostly stop along the way. Visit them all, complete your passport, and return it for a special prize!
Whether you come for the food, the fall atmosphere, the history, or a little Halloween fun, Sunbury's Screams & Scenes is a new way to experience Downtown Sunbury after dark and extend the Halloween fun. Come hungry, bring the family, and see what stories are waiting for you in Sunbury!
Always the first Thursday of December, Late Night Shoppers offers holiday shoppers an opportunity to support local businesses and area crafters. Market Street businesses will stay open late and offer holiday treats with special discounts to shoppers.
LNS Headquarters will be located at the Sunbury Market House, 436 Market St. Additional crafters and vendors will be set up in the Market House where there will be live music to entertain.
Shoppers can enter to win a variety of raffle prizes by bringing their purchase receipts to the LNS Headquarters no later than 8:45pm. Raffle ticket holders need not be present to win.
