About SRI

Sunbury’s Revitalization, Inc. (SRI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening the economic vitality, appearance, and sense of community throughout the City of Sunbury. Guided by a volunteer board of directors and supported by community partners, businesses, residents, and local leaders, SRI works to create a thriving, welcoming, and vibrant city for all who live, work, and visit here.

Founded in 1986, SRI has played a key role in downtown revitalization, historic preservation, business development, community events, and placemaking initiatives that enhance the quality of life in Sunbury. Today, the organization continues to build on that legacy by fostering partnerships, supporting local businesses, encouraging investment, and creating opportunities for community engagement. Sunbury has long served as a center for transportation, commerce, industry, and innovation within the Susquehanna River Valley.

While we are proud of our history, we are equally focused on the future. Through strategic revitalization efforts and the ThinkSunbury movement, SRI is working alongside the community to create a stronger economy, vibrant downtown, attractive neighborhoods, and a city where people are proud to live, work, invest, and visit. We believe revitalization is most successful when it is community driven. Every resident, business owner, property owner, volunteer, and visitor has a role to play in shaping Sunbury's future. Whether you have an idea to share, a project to champion, or simply want to get involved, we invite you to join us as we continue building momentum for the next generation of Sunbury.

Who We Are

Established in 1986, Sunbury’s Revitalization, Inc. (SRI) began as a Main Street Program under the direction of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). SRI was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 2005. No longer “just” a Main Street Program, SRI members include individuals, families, businesses, chambers of commerce and other organizations, united in a common purpose – to see Sunbury thrive!

SRI engages with partners across the community and region as well as local, state, and federal government officials to fund and implement a wide variety of community and economic development activities and programs.
