Mark Walsh appointed Downtown Ambassador for Sunbury

Promoting Sunbury community and businesses

Sunbury’s Revitalization, Inc. has officially appointed Mark Walsh to serve as the Downtown Ambassador for Sunbury! With amazing energy and a keen eye for detail, Mark will be spearheading our ThinkSunbury marketing initiative to promote our community and businesses. Mark's position is made possible through a grant from the Blueprint Communities(r) program. This program has provided our 10-person Downtown Sunbury Team with education and resources to revitalize the downtown to bring new life and prosperity in to our small but wonderful city.

Mark is a Sunbury resident, born to a family of lifelong civil servants hailing from New York City. Bringing with him a plethora of wisdom when It comes to community engagement, event planning, social media and strategic networking, he plans on taking the job and city by storm.

“I’ve always loved Sunbury,” said Mark. “From the first time I walked the Riverfront and then Market Street, I knew Sunbury was where I wanted to be. We truly are in the heart of the Susquehanna and there’s absolutely no place quite like here. I plan on doing everything I can to uplift our residents, our businesses and our visitors. There is so much work to be done, and we’re just getting started! I’m honored to have been picked for this position.”

Hitting the ground running Mark has been engaging with local residents, attending Sunbury City Council meetings, assisting businesses with setting up accounts for our new community calendar hosted on the ThinkSunbury.com website, running a solo Market Street litter pickup, and promoting events and happenings around the city.

“It’s exciting to see Sunbury’s downtown revitalization efforts gaining momentum with the appointment of Mark Walsh as our Downtown Ambassador. His passion for the city and its potential is evident, and his background in community engagement and event planning seem like a perfect fit for the role. The ThinkSunbury initiative will definitely benefit from his drive and productivity, helping to foster strong connections and build long standing relationships within the city. Mark’s focus on getting involved right away really shows that he’s committed to making a tangible impact from the start. His enthusiasm and dedication to Sunbury’s growth are sure to inspire others in the community to get involved and invest in the city’s future,” says Jody Ocker, SRI’s Executive Director. “We’re thrilled to have him on board.”
